But OF COURSE, I was bound to get sick at some point with all this traveling 🙄
… A series of things have not played in my favor:
- Hubby got sick with the flu (again) less than a month ago
- I’ve been traveling non-stop for the past month and a half
- Misbehaved (a LOT) in terms of food and drinks on December
As you can see, it was bound to happen. Our bodies are perfect machines, they are designed to work perfectly —if we treat it and fuel it properly that is!
But as you guys know by now, I LOVE playing witchy doctor so I summoned my best Bruja herbs, oils & tinctures and made a potion (really didn’t measure anything guys, but I will try to detail the things I regularly use when I feel I’m getting sick with the flu)… I used:
Excellent antiviral, anti-bacterial & anti-inflammatory properties, so it works wonders for the flu (who else got oregano oil drops in the ears as a kid?!). I love this oregano oil brand.
Herbal Resistance Liquid
Made of the following herbs – Echinacea (boost the immune system, reduces infections) + Goldenseal (good for respiratory chest issues, stomach pain & swelling, ulcers, constipation, intestinal gas) & YinChiao(enhance other herbs potency and helps clear the head, eyes, and cold phlegm). I love this Herbal Resistance Liquid brand.
One of my favs for its anti-inflammatory properties and immune system boosting power (ginger and turmeric are cousins!). It can be used very effectively to clear chest congestion, as it works to strengthen your immune system and prevent any further mucus buildup.
One of the most potent forms of honey, great healing qualities, especially for infections, digestion and even to reduce inflammation in the intestinal tract. I love this Manuka Honey brand.
Lemon Juice & Turmeric
Because it’s obvious alkaline & anti-inflammation properties and you know I’m obsessed with turmeric anyways! It contains potent antiviral, anti-fungal, anti-cancer and anti-bacterial properties which is excellent to fight the flu and contain the infection.

Studies have shown that garlic reduces the risk of becoming sick with the flu in the first place, as well as how long you stay sick. It can also reduce the severity of symptoms. If you often get sick with a cold or flu, eating garlic can help reduce your symptoms or prevent your illness entirely.
Ancient Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine revered onions for their congestion-relieving properties… Onions may have the ability to ward off and relieve symptoms of the common flu. The simple method of boiling onions into a drinkable broth may be a good practice.
