9 Foods For Glowing Skin… Ya’ Know, That JLo Glow!

Well, well, well… who doesn’t want that JLo glow right?

I mean, she barely ages, always looks fierce, but above all, her skin always look so NATURALLY glowing!

Don’t get me wrong, I know she gets LOTS of help and probably has an army of skincare people behind her every time *insert jealous face here please*. But what I love about her is that she is DISCIPLINED!

To the best of my knowledge, she doesn’t drink (or very little) and is always super conscious when it comes to her food choices. We all want her skin, but are we willing to be as committed as her, as disciplined?

BUT I GOT GOOD NEWS!

You don’t need to be JLo or filthy rich to have that glow. Here are 9 of my fav foods for an amazing, epic-looking-glowing skin:

1. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

There are so many great things I can tell you about Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)… it’s full of antioxidants, microflora to make your guts do the “happy dance”. The acid in the vinegar aids digestion/absorption of certain vitamins and minerals and helps detox the liver. The better your liver works, the more toxins it will flush out of your body and voila, clear skin! Now, I’m talking about drinking ACV and not using it topically -I promise I’ll talk more about how you can use ACV topically soon!- Just drink 8 Onz. water with 1 tbs ACV every morning and keep drinking throughout the day if you can, several times.

2. TURMERIC

Are you surprised my favorite spice is making a cameo here? Nop! I’m totally predictable like that… Lol anyways, reducing inflammation is a HUGE thing for people with acne or that want to clear their skin, because glowing from the inside out does not only requires us to AVOID certain foods, but to HEAL (a.ka. fight inflammation) and that’s where my lovely turmeric is golden!.. did you catch my pun? 😉 You can drink my healing turmeric elixir every day and your skin will thank you for it!

3-4 AVOCADO & ALMONDS [GOOD FATS]

I mean, do we NEED a reason to eat avocados? You’ll always find avocados in my fridge because quite honestly I could eat them every day… and almonds too, for sure! They’re not only yummy but for skin beauty purposes, they are KEY. They contribute unsaturated “good” fats, and good fats can help the body absorb fat-soluble nutrients Vitamins A, D, K, and E, omega-3s (nourish your skin, are important for radiance and add softness to your complexion) and omega-6s (the building blocks of healthy cell membranes. They help prevent skin dryness to maintain healthy and hydrated skin).

5. GREEN TEA

Green Tea has soooo many anti-aging, and antioxidant benefits because ya’ know… wrinkles! Drinking green tea is awesome to delay signs of skin aging, like sagging skin (urrrg) sun damage, age spots, fine lines, and wrinkles.

6. BERRIES

Same as green tea, berries have tons of antioxidants to helps fight the free radicals in the skin which are the main responsible for premature aging. And they are also full of fiber which will hep you move things along better in your bathroom trips, aiding the detoxing process of your body. Win-win, right?

7. PAPAYA

I love papayas so much, and I feel papaya is such an underrated fruit. I’m from the Caribbean, so I grew up eating it. I remember my dad always used to eat the seeds as well and tell me it was good for digestion, and you know that a good digestion and good gut health means… You got it, clear-glowing skin! It’s also full of vitamin A, which help in removing dead skin cells and if you apply the puree of raw papaya on your face for 25 minutes, it helps remove unwanted pimples and blemishes. Aleluyah!

8. BEE POLLEN

Bee pollen is loaded with ‘skin health’ boosting substances like zinc, silica, and dozens of anti-oxidants and fatty acids. Skin can become younger looking and less vulnerable to wrinkles, smoother and healthier with the use of bee pollen (both internally and externally). But if you read this article I wrote the other day about Bee Pollen for energy, then you know this already!

9. LIME/LEMON

Lime & lemon juice is HUGE for keeping our bodies alkaline… therefore, is one of my staples when it comes to having and keeping that JLo glow. Drink warm water with lemon every morning on an empty stomach, it will not only help balance your body’s pH, but it will also help you flush out toxins that can be causing your dull skin, under eye bags, dark circle, and acne. A body full of toxins cannot feel healthy, let alone “look”. That’s why I love detoxing a few times per year, it makes my skin GLOW from the inside out and I always drop a few pounds Lol

So yeah, the best thing you can do for an amazing JLo-like type of skin is a GOOD DIET, nothing will top that!

So make sure to integrate these badass foods in your diet, have fun in the process and get ready for everybody asking you “how you got that glow?!”
