7 Wellness Tips For Better Digestive Health

1. Always include probiotics

Probiotics help to balance your gut with good bacteria and kill off the “bad ones,” thus improving your digestive system. You can get probiotics from a ton of natural sources like fermented food (sauerkraut, kombucha, tempeh), yogurt, etc. You can also take a supplement like Culturelle® Digestive Health Probiotic,^ which will help your digestive system work better* and even better, the probiotic capsules are vegetarian (gelatin-free). Yes! It also helps with occasional diarrhea, gas and bloating.* It has proven support to help reduce occasional digestive upset.* Culturelle® Digestive Health Probiotic helps your digestive system work better thanks to the #1 clinically studied probiotic Lactobacillus GG.

2. Start your day with warm water with lemon (and keep drinking it during the day!)

Doing this will help stimulate your liver function and will kick-start your digestion. Also, lemon juice helps reduce inflammation in the body.

3. Eat lots of fiber

Our gut microbes feed off fiber, so you might want to keep that in consideration when meal prepping next time.

Besides food, you can also add a good fiber supplement like Benefiber® because I know, I know… sometimes it’s hard to get all of the fiber you need every day! Benefiber® makes it easy to add fiber to your daily routine, and I LOVE that it’s a clear, taste-free and 100% natural prebiotic fiber. It also dissolves completely in foods and beverages.** All you need to do is add it to what you are already eating/drinking and voila! It helps support good digestive health.*

4. Reduce red meat, processed foods, and alcohol

If you’ve been following me for a while, this will not come as a surprise to you. I’m the biggest advocate of reducing or completely eliminating meat from our diet because it causes inflammation. The same goes for processed foods and alcohol… You will be surprised at how flat your belly will be and how much your digestion will improve. It works every time!

5. Cook at home

This one is a no-brainer. When you cook at home, you control what goes into your meals (ingredients, calories, and portion sizes). Cooking can also help you to develop a new relationship with food and can even serve as bonding time with your loved ones!

6. Exercise

Exercising at least 30 minutes a day supports the flow of your lymph system and helps the food travel through your digestive system. You don’t need to go crazy; a simple yoga class or a brisk walk will do!

7. Self-care is a must

Set some time for relaxation into your daily routine, Girl! It doesn’t have to be anything fancy; a simple warm bath can do. Or you can read your favorite book, or if you’re feeling like a rockstar, get yourself a massage!

Believe it or not, digestion is disrupted by stress — which I’m super guilty of, so I’m trying to do better and change that because I can totally feel how my digestion changes when I’m stressed out…. Urrrggg!

Implement these 7 tips and you will be well on your way to AMAZING digestion and feeling better than ever.

Btw, remember you can get both of them at Sam’s Club (in stores and online) and take advantage of the deal they have going on up until 9/17/17 in their Instant Savings Book, $5 off each product.

  1. Great tips – and that’s the reminder I need to get up and move around more! #client

  2. One of the benefits of prebiotics is that they feed your own healthy flora. Probiotics are great in theory, but if there is nothing for them to eat they may just die away.
